4 things to see on Gotland – Gotland is for you who want the feeling of being abroad without actually leaving Sweden . The island is Sweden’s summer paradise, and when you go there yourself you will understand why. Long beaches, turquoise waters and lots of attractions attract.

There are endless places to choose from, but here we give you our 4 favorite things to see when you go to the island of roses – Gotland!

1. Raukar

According to LOCALTIMEZONE, Raukarna is perhaps the most typical attraction for Gotland and has become a symbol of the beautiful island. These natural phenomena are limestone formed by weather and wind and become a natural art gallery along the coast of Gotland. These monuments from a bygone era are a must for everyone who goes to Gotland.

One of the most talked about rauks is Hoburgsgubben, who looks like a man’s head from a certain angle. Hoburgsgubben can be found on the southern tip of Gotland. Other famous rauks to check out are Langhammarsgubben, Jungfru, Holmhällarna, Lergravsporten, Folhammar and Digerhuvud.

2. Visby

The world heritage Visby is of course another attraction that should not be missed. If you come to Visby by plane or ferry, it is Visby you come to first. Our tip is not to run away from Visby too fast, but take your time to enjoy this cozy medieval town.

The ring wall in Visby is one of the largest attractions in all of Sweden, and is Northern Europe’s best-preserved city wall. Visby’s ring wall was built as early as the 13th century and is 3.6 kilometers long. Perfect for a nice walk.

3. The Botanical Garden

Inside the wall in Visby you will also find the botanical garden. Here you can find fantastic plants that usually do not thrive in Sweden’s climate, but grow here protected by the wall. The garden is free to visit and is located along the beach.

Visby’s botanical garden is a cozy oasis you can seek after a long day of adventure. Here you will find, among other things, the church ruin St Olof and the world’s most powerful ivy.

4. The Lummelunda caves

An exciting angle to discover Gotland from is from the underground! Lummelunda Caves is a nature reserve 14 kilometers north of Visby. There are several different guided tours that allow you to discover the exciting caves.

The shortest trip you can take is the safe children’s trip of 30 minutes, while the longest is the Great Cave Adventure of 180 minutes. The latter is for the adventurous person who wants to get far into the cave. The 60-minute tour of Mörkerturen is a guided tour that is not for the faint of heart, as you get there with only a flashlight.
